I stayed in an Airbnb that was okay, but quite crowded, but I just messaged my friend who was there in the autumn and she stayed at the Atlas Almohades and really loved it: https://www.heartmybackpack.com/casablanca

Hi! I’m an American living in Trondheim and studying geography at NTNU. Being the super map-loving nerd that I am, I think it would be really cool if you featured a map with a balanced preservation of size and shape. My favorite is the Winkel Tripel projection 🙂

Hello,
I enjoyed reading about the 37 super fun things to do in Trondheim. We will be there at the end of August when my husband finishes walking St. Olav’s Way. Our plan is to go to the area around Are in Sweden and then we plan to drive south to Oslo. It is a pretty long drive, though, and wonder if you could recommend a nice place to stay between Trondheim and Oslo?
Silvia says
I would recommend somewhere in Hedmark (https://www.heartmybackpack.com/hedmark-folldal/) or Oppland (https://www.heartmybackpack.com/oppland-hjerkinn/)

Thanks so much for the information. I’ve booked our accomodation and happy to find something that is a little off the beaten path. I’ll be looking at your recommendations for the rest of Norway. What a great find!

I see from the map that you’ve visited Slovenia but you didn’t blog about it. Does that mean you didn’t like it? I would have thought you’d have have fallen in love with the Triglav National Park. You like hiking, and many travelers consider the park one of the best places to hike in Europe.
Silvia says
I visited before I started my blog!

I see! Did you get a chance to visit Velika Planina? The area is relatively little-known, but it’s one of my favorite parts of the country. Situated in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps close to the Austrian border, Velika Planina is a high-altitude dairy pasture with traditional architecture, apparently the largest such settlement in Europe (or one of the largest, depending on the source). The small, oval-shaped houses there look like something out of Tolkien, and there’s even a small museum dedicated to life high in the mountains.
If you ever make a return visit to Slovenia, perhaps you could check it out.
Here’s some more information:

Sorry I know this is old but I was just reading comments. I lived in Slovenia for 8 months and loved it a lot and I went to Velika Planina in the winter!

Hello! I’m planning a trip to Norway for next August. Main goal is to hike/camp to/at Trolltunga. I’ve done some research and seems like I fly into Bergen and then take bus to Odda. Will that be the easiest/fastest way?
Silvia says
Yes, that’s your best bet!

Hello, I am from Australia and planning a 3-4 day visit to Norway in mid October. We will fly into Bergen from Iceland. I am travelling with my 79yo mother, so hiking is out unless it’s an easy (relatively flat) and only a couple of kilometres. We will have a wheelchair so I can push mum around wherever possible, so she conserves her energy to walk around attractions. I was wondering if 3-4 days would be long enough to do the drive from Bergen you wrote about or will it get dark too quickly? I’m also wondering if the scenery will be similar to Iceland? Do you know a cheap option for a boat/ferry ride in a fjord and what one you would recommend?
Thank you for your time
Wishing you a lovely day
Diane

We are planning a trip to Norway this summer and I’m finding your blog very helpful. My husband is in contact with a distant cousin there and we’re going to go see the ancestral farm near Aurdal. Beyond that we’re still tossing around ideas.
We took our kids to Korea a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time. Planning that was pretty straightforward since I’d been there before and have a good feel for how to country works, and pretty much knew where I wanted to go. We spent most of our time outside of Seoul, which was nice because I’m not great with crowds. (We have a youtube channel called Korea With Kids showing our road trip across the country.)
So, I read your post about the fjord region being super crowded in the summer and now I’m wondering what I really want to do. This will take some consideration! I will check out some more of your suggestions.
Best of luck to you!

How random is this question?
I am ready to get back to travel but am now (for the first time in my life) alone.
Out of the places you have been, what would be your favorite recommendation for December travel, for a single woman.

Hello! My sister and I took a trip to the fjords in 2018 and absolutely loved your recommendations. Your blog made our trip. Do you have recommendations for northern Italy? I’m looking to plan a week-long excursion.
Thank you!
