Rogaland – home to the craziest dialect in Norway! But don’t worry, most people speak English so you shouldn’t need to deal with the difficult dialect.
Rogaland’s main attractions are Stavanger, Haugesund, and one of Norway’s most famous hikes: Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock. But it’s also home to one of my very favorite places in Norway, that you’ve probably never heard of: Åna-Sira.
Stavanger has an international airport as well as some cheap domestic connections, making it quite easily accessible. It’s also not too far from Bergen.

Visiting Åna-Sira
You’ll be best off renting a car from Stavanger to get to Åna-Sira, especially as the drive there is amazing (take the road that follows the coastline).
Åna-Sira is a beautiful village tucked away into the mountains, and here you can go hiking and swim at the beach. It’s one of my favorite hidden gems in Norway and while visiting might be a bit of a detour, it is absolutely worth it!
